How far in advance should I book my move?

The further in advance you book your move the better, as we can send you any information you require, assist you with packing or supply your packaging requirements. Simply Moving will not charge any fees for re-scheduling your move. This means you can change your move date or time as required. Terms apply.

Is a deposit required?

We take a 10% deposit prior to the move commencing, this secures your date. We understand that move dates slip and things change, therefore you can amend the date without losing your deposit. Terms apply.

When do I pay?

For local fixed quote moves a deposit is required and then payment can be made in advance or on the day. Half hourly rate moves payment is upon completion once the time taken is calculated. For long haul and European moves full payment is required one week before the move begins.

How do I pay?

Payment can be made by cash, debit card, BACS.

“I.O.U.s” are not accepted.

Do I need to arrange a parking permit for the removal van ?

A parking permit is not necessary unless the road requires residents to have one. Please ensure that there is sufficient reserved parking for our vehicle directly outside your houses. We need space to park and operate, and therefore need around 12 metres (2 car lengths) free for this at your collection and delivery addresses. Your local council or police may be able to assist with this.

Do I need to dismantle my bed & wardrobe etc?

For fixed price quotes, unless stipulated at time of quoting, is to be undertaken by the householder as resources and time need to be accounted for. If you are moving under the half hourly rate then we can do as much or as little as you wish, you only pay for the time you use.

Do I need to unpack my drawers?

If the chest is sturdy and no taller than three drawers then it will generally be fine to leave clothes and light-weight items in. Flat pack furniture may struggle to be moved with items inside.

Will Simply Moving disconnect my washing machine?
Simply Moving can assist in the disconnecting and reconnecting of washing machines, dishwashers etc. We are not plumbers so if there are any special tools required we may not be able to. Likewise, if there are any drips, leaks etc. we are not liable, any work is carried out entirely at your own risk.
Can I leave my fridge or freezer full?

Fridges should be emptied before they are moved, you may be able to leave some lighter items in your freezer. Please be aware that freezers should not be plugged in and turned on straight away after the removal as the gasses need to settle. Please see your manufacturer’s instructions for guidance on this.

Will you empty my attic?
Unless the attic is used as a current room of the house, has adequate stairs and fully boarded then our insurance will not cover our employees to conduct this. Therefore the attic must be emptied prior to the Simply Moving team arriving.
Will our goods be insured during the move?

All Simply Moving vehicles carry transit insurance included in the price. Breakage and handling insurance cover is included with the completion of a valued inventory of items form, terms apply. It may also be worth contacting your current home insurance provider as you will find removals cover is usually part of your policy.

Does Simply Moving provide storage?

Simply Moving can arrange storage for you depending on your requirements, please see our storage page for more info.

Do you sell and supply packing boxes?

We can supply packing materials for customers that wish to pack themselves, please see our packing materials page. Customers not moving with Simply Moving are also welcome to purchase our packing materials.

How do you move the plants when moving?

The easiest way to move plants is by having Simply Moving handle it. We can transfer your greenery safely and securely, though not put it into storage. Large garden pots or troughs may need some soil removing. We can’t move them if they have any ant nests etc. in them and you should be aware that pots left outside may have become brittle in the frost affecting their ability to be moved.

Do you provide a packing service?

Yes, the Simply Moving Packing Service offers the facility for a team to come round prior to the move and pack all of your belongings for you. Our experienced packers will bring all the required materials that you need, they will also dismantle and reassemble your furniture.

Do you provide a rubbish removal service
No. Rubbish removals is a different industry to ours. Our vehicles are kept to the highest standard and not designed for carrying waste.
What should I do with gas cylinders or flammable liquids?

Gas cylinders and/or flammable liquids cannot be transported in our vehicles as they are not covered under our insurance, so alternative arrangements will need to be made. Equipment such as garden mowers and chainsaws should be drained of all liquids beforehand.

Can I travel with the vehicle?
For local moves we may be able to carry a passenger providing there is space in the vehicle, ask the Simply Moving operator at the time of booking.
Will you place my goods in rooms of my choice in the new property?
Yes! It is always best if you have a clear idea of where you want your furniture to be placed. Our staff will endeavour to arrange the rooms to your liking but will not have the time to continually rearrange your room.
What vehicles are used and how many moving staff?

We operate a range of vehicles and they will be allocated depending on the size of your removal. Please let us know if there is difficult access at either address as this will allow us to plan your move with smaller vehicles or make the necessary arrangements to tranship your goods. The team will also be selected depending on the size of the move and the access.

How long will the removals process take on the day?

This depends on the size and distance of your move. It can take anywhere between a couple of hours to a few days to complete the service. Another factor when it comes to how long a job takes is if you need to wait for the keys to be collected for your new property. Purchasing the late key waiver ahead of time will save you extra charges in this instance.
